The face of the UK Government's "Welcome To GREAT" Business Support Campaign

DIT Overview

The UK Government were launching their GREAT trade campaign to support business looking for trade & support in the UK, and needed a website to promote each area of industry and generate leads. They chose Creative Brand Design to create & maintain this platform, based on the strength of our portfolio and work with well-known & established businesses.

Lead Generation


The goal of the DIT website was to attract businesses, entrepreneurs & high-level professionals to the Government’s GREAT For Collaboration campaign. To achieve this and help keep the leads specific, it was split into Industries & a unique contact form was provided to capture exactly what the users were looking for.

Industry pages were designed and created to advertise key aspects & figures of the opportunities available to international businesses, with modern animation & effects to deliver an interactive & informative user experience. We also worked closely with the DIT team, to ensure adherence to Government brand & quality guidelines.

Intelligent Information


The Department for International Trade had officers in a huge number of countries worldwide to be the main point of contact for working with businesses in each location, and to help facilitate trade deals to boost the UK’s international portfolio.

Creative Brand Design utilised Bing Maps Javascript API, to custom code an interactive directory lookup – where users could select their country, and have the contact information & location of the relevant officers immediately displayed on a map.

Multi Lingual


Due to the international nature of the DIT platform, it was imperative that users of multiple languages could understand & use the website. Creative Brand Design managed the full translation of the entire website’s copy into Chinese, Japanese, German & French, going through multiple revisions to ensure perfect, ‘native’ readability.

We then utilised the powerful WPML system on WordPress to populate the translated content on the website, providing a copy of every page for each translation & an automatic language-detection filter based on user location. The WPML system made it simple for the team to manage & update translated content across the whole website.

As part of the website maintenance Creative Brand Design performed, we created templates for custom lead-gen pages that could be quickly created to go live temporarily while specific campaigns were active. As the DIT team were always active & attending various marketing & business conferences and events around the globe, this was crucial for them to be able to showcase specific assets and capture targeted leads from the event.

Creative Brand Design would compile all leads from the website into a report at the end of each week, with information such as their industry, how they arrived at the site, contact details & message, to be processed by the DIT marketing team.

The Results

The lead-gen platform was a crucial part of the success of the GREAT For Collaboration campaign run by the government’s Department for International Trade. It saw a significant amount of international traffic, and generated many high-quality contacts for the government to explore business & professional relationships with.
